Rules for Services
Last updated 2026-10-23.
Services is where members offer what they do (photo editing, mixing and mastering, video cuts, translation, small websites and more) and other members hire them. These rules sit alongside the Terms of Service. Centhead provides the marketplace, the escrow and the dispute process; the seller is the one who performs the work and is responsible for it.
1. How an order works
- A seller creates a profile and gigs. Each gig has up to three packages with their own price, delivery time and number of revisions, optional extras, the questions the buyer must answer, and 1 to 12 examples of the seller’s work. A person at Centhead reads every gig before it is shown, and again when its text or examples change.
- The buyer picks a package, answers the seller’s questions, accepts the notice in section 4 and pays. The payment is held in escrow: it is not the seller’s money yet.
- The seller starts the order and delivers (a message and up to 25 MB of files). The buyer accepts, asks for a revision, or opens a dispute. If the buyer does not answer for 3 days the delivery is accepted automatically; the buyer is warned a day before.
- On acceptance the escrow is released to the seller after Centhead’s fee, and then held for 45 seconds before the seller can withdraw it.
2. Prices and fees
- Sellers set their own prices. A package costs at least $5.00. The buyer pays the price shown and nothing is added on top.
- Centhead keeps a flat 15% of each completed order. A member with Centhead Plus keeps all of it on the orders they complete while the plan is active; the fee that applied is stored with each order and never changes afterwards. A referral reward, if any, is paid out of Centhead’s fee and never reduces what the seller receives.
- When the buyer pays by card, the card processor’s fee (currently 2.90% plus $0.30) is passed on at cost, shown to the seller before and after, and booked as its own line. Withdrawing costs what the payout processor charges (0.25% plus $0.25 per withdrawal), shown before the seller confirms.
- Sellers are responsible for their own taxes (income tax, and VAT or sales tax where they apply) and for any invoice the law requires. Centhead is not their tax adviser and may report payments to tax authorities where the law requires. Before a first withdrawal the seller’s identity must be verified.
3. Cancelling, revisions and disputes
- Before the seller starts, the buyer can cancel for a full refund, and the seller can decline an order (the buyer is refunded in full). An order the seller has not started within 3 days is declined automatically.
- After the seller started, the buyer can cancel only when delivery is a day late. An order more than 14 days late is cancelled and refunded.
- After a delivery, the buyer can ask for the revisions the package includes. When they are used up, the buyer can accept or open a dispute.
- One dispute per order. The buyer explains what went wrong, the seller replies once, and support reads the messages, the delivery and both explanations and decides: a full refund, a release to the seller, or a split. The money stays in escrow until then. The decision and its reason are sent to both.
- If the payment behind an order is charged back by a bank, the order is reversed and the amount is taken back, wherever it has reached.
4. The 14-day right of withdrawal for digital services
When you buy online from a seller in the European Union, the law normally gives you 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract. For a digital service, that right ends once the service has been fully performed, if you asked for it to start immediately and were told so. At checkout you are asked to confirm exactly this, and Centhead stores your confirmation with the order (which text, when, and a hashed network address):
I ask the seller to start the service immediately. I understand that I have a 14-day right to withdraw from a distance contract, but that for a digital service I lose it once the service has been fully performed. Until the work is delivered and I accept it (or a few days pass without a reply), I can cancel before the seller starts, or open a dispute, as described in the rules for Services.
Nothing here limits any right you have by law that cannot be waived. Until the service has been fully performed and you have accepted it (or 3 days have passed without a reply), the escrow protects you as described above.
5. Reviews and ratings
- Only the buyer of a completed order can review it, once, within 30 days. A review has 1 to 5 stars, optional ratings for communication, “as described” and delivery, and up to 1000 characters. It cannot contain contact details or links.
- The seller can post one public reply. A seller cannot remove a review. Support removes a review only if it breaks these rules, and records why.
- A review of an order that is later refunded or charged back no longer counts. A gig’s ranking uses a weighted average, so one 5-star review does not outrank a hundred reviews at 4.8. Seller levels (New, Rising, Top) are recognition, with a small boost in search.
- Buying or selling reviews, reviewing yourself or a seller on your own network, and asking for reviews in return for anything is not allowed. Patterns that look like it are flagged for a person to check.
6. What may not be sold
- Fake engagement: likes, follows, comments, views, installs or reviews on any platform.
- Academic cheating: work that a student hands in as their own, and exam help.
- Adult, hateful, harassing or illegal work; anything that infringes someone’s rights; anything that harms a computer or steals data.
- Medical, legal, tax or investment advice that needs a licence, and anything that promises income or investment returns.
- Anything that takes the deal off Centhead: phone numbers, e-mail addresses, links and chat handles are refused in titles, descriptions and packages, and marked in messages. Portfolio links are allowed as plain text.
Listings that break these rules are rejected, paused or taken down, and repeat breaches can end in the loss of the seller profile and the withholding of the related earnings while we investigate.
7. Messages and files
The conversation on an order is text only, up to 2000 characters a message. Deliveries are private to the buyer, the seller and Centhead support, are scanned by content (executables and scripts are refused) and are deleted 60 days after the order ends; the order and its messages remain.
8. Reporting and takedown
Any signed-in adult member can report a gig, a seller or a review from its page. Three reports, or one about copyright, take a gig off the catalogue until a person has looked at it. A rights holder who believes a gig or a portfolio item infringes their rights can write to support@centhead.com with: who they are and their contact details; what is infringed and where they hold the rights; the address of the page (and the item) on Centhead; a statement that they act in good faith and that the notice is accurate. We take the listing down while we check, tell the seller why, and let the seller answer. Sellers who repeatedly infringe lose their profile.
9. No promises
Centhead does not guarantee that a seller will find buyers, or any income. Sellers set their price; Centhead keeps 15%.
