Changelog

What changed, and when

Every release, in plain words: what changed and what it means for you. Planned items are marked and are not available yet.

Released

Centhead 2.3.0: the numbers behind the plan, shown in the open

  • The ways-to-earn page now publishes the ceilings that today's limits allow (per 1,000 ads, per 24 hours, per 30 days), each with its formula. They are ceilings, not what people typically earn; a typical figure is published only once at least 30 members have been active.
  • The Earn page has a card for Centhead Plus with your own last 30 days and where the plan pays off, whichever way it falls. You can hide it.
  • The company behind the service is named in the footer and in the legal pages.

Real payouts and real advertisers

  • Not available yet. Everything on Centhead today is a demonstration: the ads, the balances and the payouts are demo money and nothing is paid out.
  • Real money needs a verified payment account, an ad network that allows this model and our own checks first. When that changes it will be announced here and on the fees page, before anyone is asked to rely on it.
Released

Centhead Plus (demo)

  • An optional plan, $4.99 per 30 days: you keep 100% of your own ad views and game ad breaks instead of 85%. Offers, surveys, shop rewards, tasks, polls, tips and sales keep their usual fee.
  • It only pays off above $33.27 of gross ad revenue a month (about 162 average ads a day at today's demo prices); the Plan page shows that and what it would have done to your own last 30 days. Most members will not reach it.
  • You can cancel at any time; it ends at the end of the period and nothing you earned is taken back.
Released

Seven games

  • New games: Tile Tide, Thread, Quiet Fields, Rebound and Echo, joining Lamp Grid and Pair Up. Playing is free and earns nothing by itself; a game may offer an optional ad break at a natural pause.
Released

Running on Cloudflare, a 15% fee, payout costs shown first

  • Centhead now runs on Cloudflare's network, with its own health and status pages.
  • The fee is a flat 15% of what an advertiser pays; you keep 85%. When you withdraw, the payout processor's estimated cost is shown before you confirm and itemised afterwards, at cost.
  • The embeddable widget for other websites was removed: Centhead lives only on its own site and apps.
Released

Public receipts, status page and this changelog

  • Receipts: totals from the ledger with nothing that identifies a member, the result of the last ledger audit, and the last 20 payouts without names. All of it is demo money while Centhead is in demo mode.
  • Status: whether the service answers, whether the database is up to date and when background work last ran.
  • Changelog: this page. It is a plain file in the repository, so every entry is dated and nobody can edit it quietly.
Released

Badges, levels and a weekly summary

  • Badges and levels on the Overview page, computed from verified, credited activity. They are recognition only and never change what anyone earns. You can hide the card.
  • A weekly summary in your notifications and, if your address is verified, by email: what you earned, what is pending, what you withdrew and how many tasks were accepted. You can switch it off from the notification bell.
Released

Games with optional ad breaks

  • Browser games you can play for free. A game may offer an ad break at a natural pause; you can say no, and a break you finish is paid like an ad view, with the same itemised split, limits and hold.
  • Playing, scores and time spent never pay anything. Games run in a sandbox and cannot see your account or balance.
  • More games are being added.
Released

Moved to Cloudflare

  • The website is served from Cloudflare's edge. The app, the API and the ledger run in one Cloudflare Durable Object with its own SQLite database, so there is a single writer and the double-entry ledger keeps its all-or-nothing behaviour.
  • The rules, the splits and the code are the same as before; only where it runs changed. The database keeps 30 days of point-in-time history, and a health endpoint reports whether it is up to date.
  • Centhead is still in demo mode: ads are demonstrations and balances are demo money.
Released

A flat 15% fee, written in the code

  • Centhead keeps a flat 15% of each payout and the member keeps 85%. The fee is one constant in the code: no promotion, setting or admin can change it.
  • The payout processor's cost is shown before you withdraw, passed on at cost and never marked up. Every receipt itemises the split to the micro-dollar.

Centhead is in demo mode: ads are demonstrations and balances are demo money. Looking for the live numbers? See the receipts and the status page.
